This week we have had cooler temperatures and a few showers. With cooler temperatures I am reminded about COOL which takes effect October 1, 2008. I am still waiting to receive word from the packer on the requirements they will request. I honestly feel the requirements will be kept simple, something we can all live with. I will keep you the customer informed as I receive notification. Also a reminder to you the consumer as you buy your cattle, make sure the age source verification is a true verification. Call Michele here at the office, she can help you determine if the information you received on your cattle is valid to receive your additional premium.
Cattle were sold at 99 last week, with the prospect of the market staying the same for this week. I will continue to stay as competitive as I can with the southern market. As we all listen to the Speeches at the Political conventions I keep listening for information on Energy and agriculture, hopefully with this information we can get a direction for which the candidates plan to follow. This industry is driven by energy costs more and more each day. As oil prices level and corn prices level, I keep looking for the costs of gains to stabilize. Give me a call about our cost of gains here at Premium, I welcome your input.
